DEPARTMENT OF HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT

C.H.A.T.

Purpose

"The purpose of this organization shall be to provide an arena for the intellectual and experiential growth of its members as related to the industry of hospitality and tourism." CHAT Constitution, Article II.

Our aim is to provide opportunities for experiential, professional and academic growth to our members through both enrichment activities and philanthropy in the Hospitality and Tourism Management industry. Please see our announcements and calendar for some exciting upcoming events!

Here’s to another memorable year ahead!

For the 2007-2008 school year we have planned numerous events for
students of all majors to be involved in. At the beginning of the
school year CHAT members volunteered at the annual Shrimpin' and
Shaggin' Festival put on by the Charleston Chapter of the National
Association of Catering Executives. Throughout the year we provide
numerous volunteer opportunities that allow students to get involved
in community activities and acquire first-hand knowledge of the
tourism industry. But we don't just work! CHAT members also get the
exclusive opportunities to partake in various tours of local resorts,
hotels and restaurants (check out our Kiawah pictures!). We have many
exciting ideas for the upcoming semester so be sure to look out for
 emails announcing meetings and events!

There are no fees to join the CHAT club and most of our events are
 free to partake in.
